Dreamed by an artist, built by a craftsman. A gallery owner and her Old World master-craftsman husband expanded a small 1980 colonial in the early 2000s into a one-of-a-kind brick-and-stone custom home of 5,500+ square feet on 6.5 private acres, along one of Wall's prettiest country roads. Land like this, minutes to Belmar beach and within easy reach of many shore towns, the highways and the train to NYC, is almost impossible to find. Inside, the scale of the first floor takes over: 12-foot ceilings, a dining room vaulting to 16 feet, and a grand living room with two pairs of sliders to the amazing rear grounds. Three fireplaces warm the interior, and the first-floor primary suite features a gas fireplace, two walk-in closets and a huge European-fitted bathroom. Among the showpieces is an enormous eat-in country kitchen, high-ceilinged and sized for a crowd, with a center island, new double ovens and a five-burner gas cooktop, plus the extras an entertainer wants: a built-in Sub-Zero, a warming drawer and a wine refrigerator. A full second floor with a second kitchen, bedrooms, family room and private balcony offers true multigenerational living, plus a large skylit third-floor bonus room. Currently set up as a 3 bedroom with two bonus rooms; could easily be a four or five bedroom home. Outside, the grounds are a private retreat: numerous bluestone seating areas, a free-form pool with wraparound bluestone pool patio, a large pond with stone waterfalls crossed by a stone arched bridge, a magnificent wisteria topped pergola, a grand stone outdoor fireplace and covered kitchen, an orchard of fig, apple and peach, and a cottage-style detached garage with pool-house potential. Five of the 6.5 acres are farmland-assessed and run today as a small working chicken farm. Currently they have about 15 hens, but have had as many as 100 hens over the years. This is a dream home and property; there is nothing cookie cutter here.
